DIPLOMA PROGRAMME

IN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAW

As the present age progresses new demands are being placed on the legal system and the legal profession. With innovation and technology playing a key role, there is a strong emphasis on areas such as patents, copyrights and trade marks.

In the last few years there have been several advancements in the field of Intellectual Property Law worldwide. Indian laws do measure up to these developments. Our IPR laws are reasonably strong and the Indian Courts have been considerably proactive in their enforcement. In fact in quite a few areas, the Indian courts have gone even further than the courts in UK . In the area of copyright, our laws are very strict and at the criminal level, infringement is a cognizable offence. With regards to our laws of patents, India is truly TRIPS compliant.

Global trade in the Third Millennium is and will be technology driven. IPR is the legal fencing tool which the holders of technology use for maximizing their returns of the technology developed by them. To improve the IPR literacy in the country and to promote professional legal skills amongst the Indian legal fraternity, Universal Institute of Legal Studies adopts a proactive view on all Intellectual Property issues and matters and seeks to prepare Indian budding legal fraternity into the multilateral regime.
